Conifer, Colorado is one of the best places in the world! With towering lodge pole pines, alpine meadows and aspen groves, snow capped peaks and trout filled streams all within a short drive from Denver, this is mountain living at it’s best! Conifer is well known for it’s wide open spaces with extensive trails and beautiful Sunday drives. The chance to live in the clean mountain air, above the fray of the city and yet so close to the amenities and economic necessities of the metro area make this a popular home for many. Once only well suited for those who didn’t mind the winding narrow roads of the foothills west of Denver– now, after the widening and rebuilding of US Highway 285 Conifer is a quick and safe commute to Denver.

See The Conifer Video

If you have a minute or two  (2:14) take a look at this quick video of Conifer and the new Conifer Safeway retail Center.  I filmed this in March, 2009 (which explains the snow).   It starts with a view of Pikes Peak from a horse ranch in Conifer and then jumps to an overview of the newest Safeway retail center.
Conifer is a Conifer-Sticky-Notemountain town of Jefferson County, Colorado in the foothills South and West of Denver, CO along highway 285.  Conifer serves as the gateway to  Colorado’s Southern mountains,  South Park and a wealth of fly-fishing, mountain biking, skiing, snowmobiling and overall Colorado mountain activities!fromiphone1-7 092

The town of Conifer sits at about 8,300 feet although there are homes at the top of Conifer mountain approaching 10,000 feet in elevation and at the bottom of Foxton Road at the North Fork of the South Platte River the elevation is about 6,400 feet.

Conifer is home to the well known and visible sledding hill of Meyers Ranch Open Space.  Passersby on Highway 285 can see sledders and snowboarders  enjoying the gently sloping grassy hillside which in the spring and summer can be filled with hikers, mountain bikers and an occasional herd of Elk.

Welcome-to-ConiferConifer Today and Tomorrow

Conifer experienced a tremendous surge of retail growth in 2007 and 2008 with new grocery stores, including King Soopers and Safeway’s Flagship store—complete with it’s own boutique coffee bar, juice bar, sushi bar, and a lot more!  In fact I believe it is the second biggest Safeway store in the U.S.  In addition many new restaurants have popped up and subsequently closed in Conifer including: Pier 49 Pizza (closed), Heidi’s Deli (closed), Anthony’s Pizza, Chile’s—which despite my own efforts to eat as much as I could has subsequently closed, a beautiful Sushi restaurant- Sushi Hai who has a happy hour every day from 4:30-6 PM with great specials and discounted sushi in a great environment that most people simply don’t expect to find in a mountain town. Give them a call at: (303) 838-7100 (closed), Lucille’s Steakhouse (closed), Sonic, 3 Margaritas- who was kind enough to sponsor the third grade lacrosse team, Qdoba, Wendy’s, Fiesta Jalisco, Raven’s—a local eatery and tavern, and probably a few more that are slipping my memory right now.  But none of them compete with J.J. Madwells manicotti at 26412 Main Street!

Love the web site, but you probably need to lower the highest price home for sale since we had to lower the price to $2,495,000 and still haven’t sold it. :(.

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for the update! Your home is beautiful and still represents the most expensive home in Conifer! A little good news in some otherwise bleak market news is that there have been a couple of sales eclipsing! the million dollar mark in Conifer lately! 11312 Belle Meade (in Belle Meade) and 133944 Pine Country Lane in Ropp Country Estates (a little known subdivision behind Piano Meadows) both sold in June for $1,275,000 and $1,125,000 respectively according to our local MLS (Metrolist). Hopefully these sales are the beginning of the renaissance of the top of the market!
