Conifer Mountain Homes

by Bob in Conifer

Towering over the town of Conifer is the 9,800 foot high .  Along its flanks are many of Conifer’s most popular subdivisions including the 9 phases of the subdivision, , Barney Gulch, Marcliff Ranchos and even Kings Valley on it’s south aspect.  However this writing is a description of the homes and subdivision in the Conifer Mountain Subdivision.  By the way, Conifer mountain is actually on a sub peak of although the Conifer Mountain Subdivision and Estates subdivisions do not connect on the mountain…  Follow this link to see an amazing home for sale on the very top of Conifer mountain with views out to Kansas: Conifer Home For Sale 10865 Beas Dr.

Conifer Mountain is home to some of the most exquisite views overlooking Denver city lights!

Conifer Mountain subdivision is comprised of approximately 420 individually platted home sites with a large variety of homes built.  The subdivision itself was platted in 1970 by the Geneva Basin Ski Corporation with the help of Roy Romer who later went on to be the Governor of Colorado.  Homes here range from the low $100’s up to custom homes on acreage with the most amazing views of the city lights of Denver and east all the way to Kansas!
As an avid cyclist I have ridden the Foxton Road,  Kennedy Gulch, Conifer Mountain hill climb several times and have, over the years, come to enjoy the well maintained, paved switch backs on the way to the top of the mountain.  Although the drive up the mountain on Kennedy Gulch and Conifer Mountain Roads are all paved—once you’re off the main access; many of the roads are dirt including Timothys Drive , Timothys Trail, Beas Drive Evening Star Lane, Edward Drive, Christopher Drive, Steven Lane, and Phoebes Drive.

Living at altitude comes with it’s own challenges.  Be sure to download the Mountain Living Checklist from the right sidebar.  The roads are typically very well maintained however snow removal from your driveway is a consideration that should be planned for before your first winter on the mountain.  Virtually all homes in Conifer Mountain are served by private wells and individual sewage disposal systems (septic tanks and systems) Anytime you are considering buying a home with well and septic please also consider the specific tests and inspections associated with those systems to avoid any potentially expensive surprises.

Homes in Conifer Mountain subdivision feed West Jefferson Elementary, West Jefferson Middle School, and Conifer High School

We listed a beautiful home site of roughly 2.6 acres of land for the COnifer Mountain Homeowner’s association.  Take a look at that offering by following this link: Conifer Mountain Land for sale.
